NOMINATIONS are open for the district’s annual sports awards.
The Maldon District Sports Awards 2017 will take place on Wednesday, October 25 at the Plume Community Academy, in Fambridge Road, Maldon.
There are eleven awards available to be won. Nominations can be put forward by parents, participants, spectators or clubs.
The awards on offer include sports personality of the year, disabled sports personality of the year, life time achievement award, volunteer of the year award, sports club of the year, coach of the year, community project of the year, school or college of the year, young sports personality of the year, changing lives award, and the ‘This Girl Can’ award.
Councillor Bob Boyce, MBE, chairman of the community services committee at Maldon District Council, said: “The Maldon District Sports Awards recognise the amazing efforts and achievements of local clubs and sporting personalities.
“The awards raise the profile of sport in the district and support the Council’s objective to have an active population with healthy lifestyles.
“After bringing back the awards in 2015, they have become bigger and better every year. This year we have some new awards, a new venue and we will be live on Saint FM.”
