BURNHAM residents wanting to order a local Domino’s will have to wait a bit longer following a fresh planning wrangle.

The fast food pizza chain has been told to go back to the drawing board over how it will tackle noise at its new takeaway.

Domino’s was given permission in February to turn St Mary’s Church Hall, in Station Road, into its latest outlet.

It aims to provide 25 new jobs for the town, but residents raised concerns over whether another takeaway store was right for Burnham.

The pizza outlet was criticised last year for failing to provide sufficient information on how it would deal with the smell and noise.

Conditions were set out to mitigate the effects of any smells and sounds after concerned from residents in the Station Road area.

But Maldon District Council’s environmental health officer Chris Cornish said while the condition on ventilation could be discharged, more work was needed regarding noise.

Mitigation for an extractor system and air handling units for chillers and air conditioning were proposed.

But Mr Cornish said these measures had not been taken. His report said: “The required mitigation measures have not been demonstrated to be incorporated into the developments.

“Therefore, this service cannot support dis- charge of condition six at this time.”

The outlet is to open from 11am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 10.30am on Sundays and bank holidays.

The pizza chain had been due to open in the summer but is currently still awaiting approval for the discharge of conditions and for its proposed new signs from Maldon District Council.
