STUDENT police officers have raised more than £2,000 for a charity set up in memory of a little boy from Burnham.

The 11 student officers passed out and joined Essex Police on Friday.

As part of the course the students take part in a number of fundraising activities for a chosen charity.

The officers chose to raise money for Unlock a Life for Lockey.

The charity was set up in honour of Laughlin Whiteley, of Burnham, who battled cancer three times before succumbing in October 2014, aged seven.

His family, including parents Andrea Poyser and John Whiteley, and friends have vowed to carry on the charity he inspired.

The Essex Police students raised a total of £2,128.58 which was handed over to Lockey’s mum Andrea at the ceremony.
