A NEW shop has opened up on Maldon’s High Street after two popular businesses decided to merge.

Grey Ruffle, run by Melissa Champion, and Daisy’s run by Daisy Fox, have combined to open Two Become One.

The shop officially opened two weeks ago with a special launch party, attended by new Maldon mayor Richard Miller, taking place last Wednesday.

Both Daisy and Melissa’s pervious stores were in Bright’s Path just off the High Street.

The new shop stocks everything from home furnishing and individual gifts and cards to candles and jewellery.

Daisy, 24, previously had shops in Ongar and Great Dunmow before moving to Maldon.

She said: “We were always talking and when this shop came up we decided to go into it together and expand.

“We are now doing a lot more things and everything is really unique.

“We sell handmade goods – bits by ourselves and other people who live locally. We also do one off pieces we find out and about and sell it in the shop.”

Daisy said the shop, which sells contemporary and antique looking goods, was different to anything else in the town and fitted in well with Maldon’s unique High Street offer.

She said: “It is going really well and we are really pleased.

“We want to carry on expanding and doing more and more. We have got lots of ideas and different bits that we want to go into there.

“We do homeware and gifts and we would like to go into clothes and accessories. It is really exciting.”

Maldon mayor Richard Miller, who attended the opening last Wednesday, said: “The shop looks fantastic and the stock will appeal to a wide ranges of shoppers, I wish them every success.”
