MORE than 100 drivers were caught speeding in one night in Maldon.

Essex Roads Policing team carried out a crackdown in Maldon and Heybridge on Friday night.

Officers spent time on Mundon Road, Holloway Road, Broad Street Green road and the Causeway.

One driver was caught travelling at 62mph in Broad Street Green’s 40mph zone and another driver was caught driving at 55mph on Mundon Road.

In total, 101 drivers will be sent notifications on the offences in the post.

Last week a meeting was held with Adam Pipe, Essex Police’s casualty reduction officer; Maldon District Community Safety Partnership; and councillors Miriam Lewis, Penny Channer and Mark Durham, to review the work undertaken since December.

Mr Pipe said: “This week we looked at all speeding offences.

“One vehicle was seen drifting around Wycke Hill roundabout and when he was stopped it was found the driver had no insurance and the vehicle was seized.

“We have continued with daytime enforcement checks in the Maldon area on the B1022 in Great Totham, Broad Street Green and Holloway Road.

“We are continuing to target this behaviour in and around the Maldon district.”
