A MAN with dementia and his wife who are facing homelessness two weeks before Christmas are appealing for help to find accommodation.

Alan Fleming and his wife Sharen have privately rented the property in London Road, Maldon, for eight years.

But last month they were handed a notice saying they must leave by December 9.

Mrs Fleming, 60, a full-time carer for Alan, 64, has been desperately searching for a new home since she learned of the news.

She has tried to find suitable properties on Rightmove, visited a number of estate agents and letting agents and asked for help from Maldon District Council.

But so far she has been unable to find somewhere to move to within Essex.

Mrs Fleming said it is vital her husband remained in an area he knew as his illness got worse.

She said: “They want us out by December 9 and I have got to do it all by myself because my husband has got dementia.

“I don’t really want to move. “I have tried Rightmove and Maldon District Council.

“We have asked if we can have a bit more time. It is just two weeks before Christmas that they want to get us out.”
