An £18billion agreement has been reached between EDF Energy and China General Nuclear Power Corporation, to build a nuclear power plant at Hinkley Point, one third of which will be paid for by China.

The arrangement will allow a firmer relationship for developing a new nuclear power station at Bradwell, as well as at Sizewell.

However, only Hinkley Point has a target date so far, it is due to start generating in 2025.

The deal will be sealed with the Chinese President Xi Jinping today, during his state visit.

In September hundreds of people joined a protest against allowing Chinese investors to build a new nuclear power station at Bradwell.
