POLICE are calling for witnesses after a stabbing in Butt Lane in Maldon last night.
The incident happened close to the Rose and Crown pub.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital suffering from serious facial injuries.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Police in Maldon are investigating after a 25-year-old man was stabbed in the early hours of this morning.
"Police were contacted shortly before 2am on Sunday, October 18 with reports of a stabbing in Butt Lane in Maldon.
"The victim had received serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital where he continues to receive treatment."
Officers remain at the scene making enquiries.
