CUTS which would see Maldon lose one of its two police stations and most of its PCSOs are not good enough, district campaigners and residents have claimed.
Essex Police unveiled proposals to close 15 police stations on Tuesday, including Southminster and South Woodham Ferrers.
If the proposals go ahead, the district’s last station, in Maldon, would only open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays.
The closures are expected to save £5million a year in maintenance costs.
Mayor of Burnham Ron Prattsaid he and the town council would be looking at ways to “put pressure” on the police to offer more support.
He said: “We are isolated, but the more these core services withdraw to a common base, the more isolated and vulnerable we become.”
