A determined dog rescuer visited the House of Commons to spark debate on licensing laws.
Co-Founder of AA Dog Rescue, Charley Nathan, 53, of Burnham Road, Latchingdon, says the stray dogs problem has reached ‘epidemic proportions’.
She said: “The public don’t realise the problem.
“Dogs are kept in pounds for seven days, at the councils cost.
“On the eighth day if not moved, they are put to sleep."
Ms Nathan, with business partner Karen James, hopes to stamp this out with the introduction of dog licensing laws.
