Bob de Vries is not happy with his rubbish collections

A rise in missed rubbish collections has been put down to an increase in vehicle breakdowns and a change in management.

During the period from April to June there were 741 missed collections, a rise of 230 missed collections from the previous quarter.

Bob de Vries, 61, of St Giles Close, Maldon, said: “Generally they do the collection, but a couple of weeks ago they missed it completely.

“I know binmen are probably in a hurry, but they could take the time to do it a bit better.

“The phrase ‘more haste and less speed’ springs to mind.”

Those refuse vehicles haven't fared well considering many were brand new when the new recycling regime came into effect. Maybe the reason they are so unreliable is because they get ragged around so much? Bin day in Burnham is like a grand prix between the various crews or maybe they're on job and finish contracts.
