A sailing club hit by thieves applied for planning permission to erect a CCTV mast in April.

It is still to receive permission.

The Blackwater Sailing Club, Basin Road, Heybridge, submitted a planning application to erect a mast for CCTV cameras and then install the cameras on April 22.

Five dinghies were stolen from the club between 8pm on August 6 and 12pm on August 7.

There was no CCTV to help with investigation.
