Commuters that rely on the M11 are being advised to plan their journeys during the Tour de France.
The race, which passes through the county on Monday, will close both slip roads at junction 9a of the northbound M11 at Saffron Walden and the Highways Agency has warned that conjestion will be likely between junctions 10 and 13.
Drivers that normally exit at junction 9a will be directed onto the M11 southbound to exit at junction 8.
The southbound A11 at Stumps Cross will also have both slip roads closed and non-motorway traffic will be directed to use the A1307.
A Highways Agency spokesman said: "There may be a need for further closures on the day to prevent traffic from stacking on the county roads but we will closely monitor this situation."
