Some of the district’s most interesting road names have surprising backgrounds.
Standard readers have helped create a list of the most unusual road names.
Tom Tit Lane in Woodham Mortimer could be named after any kind of small, active songbirds, such as the bluetit.
Creasen Butt Close, Heybridge, is understood to have been named after a popular benefits officer who worked for Moat housing association in the 1990s and helped many people.
