A young singer has reached the regional heats of a national singing competition.

Amber Rose Cross, 12, wowed TeenStar judges at her first audition with the Mariah Carey hit Emotions.

It is the first time she has entered a singing competition.

The schoolgirl, of Drakes Avenue, Mayland, said: "I've always enjoyed singing and would love to do it for the rest of my life."
