FIREFIGHTERS across the county received 100 calls during high winds last night.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service received calls from various locations from 8pm last night into the early hours of this morning.

No incidents in north Essex are believed to be serious, though a roof was blown off a property in Harlow.

The majority of reports related to fallen trees, power cables which have fallen down, a crane left in a precarious position.

Essex Weather Centre has published a revised forecast for Colchester this weekend.

It says gale-force winds will continue this morning, which will make way for sunshine and showers for the rest of the day.

There is a risk of hail and thunder.

A ground frost is exptected tonight and into tomorrow morning, before temperatures rise to about 8 degrees.
