A decision on the future of Maldon and Burnham's children's centres is due to be made next week.

Essex County Council plans to cut opening hours at the Dengie Children’s Centre, based at Burnham’s Ormiston Rivers Academy, from 41 a week to ten.

Yellow Brick Road Children’s Centre, at Great Totham Primary School, could have its hours chopped from 40 to five.

Maldon Children’s Centre, at the town’s library, will have its hours raised from 38 to 40 plus a telephone service for ten hours.

The council needs to save £2.5million from its children’s centre budget between now and 2016.

Cabinet members are to discuss the plans on Tuesday.
