Maldon District Council's government funding slashed by £450,000

Maldon District Council is facing a cut of almost £450,000 from its government funding.
Whitehall gives councils cash to support their services but has slashed its funding during the economic downturn.
Maldon will receive £449,000 less from next April than it did this year.
Henry Bass, deputy leader of the council, said: “Although this cut is what had been accurately forecast in our medium term financial strategy, it is still not good news for the council as we will need to save approximately £378,000 in 2014/15 and a further £484,000 in 2015/16.
“However, despite the limited income streams which are available to the council, we have a good track record of finding solutions to achieve financial savings targets with minimal impact on front line services and we will continue to strive to do so."
