Maldon has been deemed one of the safest places in the UK, according to a new report.
The district has been crowned the fifth most peaceful place to live in the country - topped only by Broadland, The Rivers, South Cambridgeshire and East Dorset - with the UK seeing a substantial fall in violent crime across the last decade.
Lewisham was graded as the least peaceful place by the UK Peace Index from the Institute for Economics and Peace.
Fiona Marshall, Chief Executive of Maldon District Council, said: “This is really encouraging news and I believe it is a testament to the character of our community and the proactive and preventative work undertaken by the Maldon District Community Safety Partnership."
