New Orleans singer and pianist to perform on Maldon barge

Dale Storr grew up in rural Lincolnshire but later found a passion for New Orleans music, launching his solo career in 2008.

Since then, he has toured the UK staging solo shows as well as performing at blues festivals, and has also been nominated four times for best piano player in the British Blues Awards.

In 2023, Mr Storr first performed his show titled the New Orleans Riverboat Revue on the Thames sailing barge Hydrogen, which is moored at Maldon’s Hythe Quay.

The show explored different styles of piano and telling stories of music, musicians and culture in New Orleans.

Mr Storr’s new show is the latest instalment of his Riverboat Revue and will celebrate the music of Dr John and James Booker, two of New Orleans greatest pianists.

Music from other artists including Allen Toussaint and Fats Domino will also be performed.

Mr Storr is performing on Friday, September 19. The event will start at 7.30pm with doors opening at 7pm and tickets costing £16.50, which includes the booking fee.
