A FASHION warehouse run by a mid-Essex-based charity is hosting two Christmas events in Maldon.

The Farleigh Hospice Clearance Warehouse at Wycke Hill Business Park will be hosting a family Christmas event and late-night shopping.

Families can visit the warehouse on Saturday, December 9, for a Christmas event which aims to teach children about sustainability and what charity shops do.

The charity had great success at its last event, a fashion show using only donated items, and they hope to have the same success with the upcoming Christmas events.

Assistant manager Sarah-Jane Oakenfull said: “We’ve recently had a letter from Father Christmas telling us that his elves visit the warehouse to see what toys are being recycled and are looking for gifts for local children.

“We are having a festive Farleigh lantern art competition and the winner will be chosen by a special grumpy, green guest, as well as a lucky dip and tombola for just £1, so it suits all budgets.

“This evening will be all about Christmas shopping along with community, charity and sustainability.”

On Thursday, December 14, a late-night shopping event will keep the shop open until 7pm.

There will be hot drinks and cake to enjoy, all to raise money for charity.

The homeware and fashion units will both be open for the event.

Sarah said: “We have such a huge selection of books, toys and bric-a-brac, furniture and homeware as well as clothes, shoes and handbags.

"Also we have our brilliant occasion wear shop that will also be open.

“We really hope the community will come together again after the success of the fashion show and support the charity as well as shop for Christmas sustainably.

“Farleigh Hospice retail is also proud to announce that we are part of an exciting new charity shop gift card scheme that can be purchased in any of our stores and spent within any of the participating charity shops of which all our stores are included.

“The gift cards can be topped up from £10 to £200 and make the perfect ecological gift as well as supporting charity.”
