A reader's letter in this week's Maldon and Burnham Standard says they're still struggling to get a doctor's appointment:
WHAT is still happening with the doctor’s surgeries.
I phoned Monday to get an appointment with a doctor to look at a problem I’d had for five days.
I was told that there were no doctors available that day but I could get a phone call, to which I agreed.

Later the doctor phoned and after 10 minutes or more of questions and having a guess as to the problem, suggested some blood tests.
I picked up the form and tried to book an appointment only to find a wait of at least 10 days to get a blood test.
It will be a two-week wait by the time I get the results.
Meanwhile I still have my problem.
The doctor’s waiting room is usually empty.
This problem needs sorting out urgently.
