TIPTREE Road Runner James Haskey-Jones rounded off a successful year by winning the Maldon Mud Race in emphatic style.

Leading from the start, he had a clear margin of victory at the finish and completed a trio of top results after finishing second last year and fourth in the previous event.

Jamie Fairfull, in his first mud race, finished either fifth or sixth (results not yet confirmed), with Anthony Knight finishing in 80th place.

At the Mid-Essex Cross-Country League fixture at Rivenhall, a number of club runners competed second claim for Mid-Essex Casuals.

Laura Shewbridge continued her winning ways by finishing first in the ladies’ race. Kevin Bownes placed 24th and Rob Hadgraft 41st.

Other finishers, with places to be confirmed, were Damien Hartshorne, Jim Slater, Phill Clarke, Tina Clarke, Carolyn Bownes and Barry Dobson.
