MALDON Hockey Club members have been getting active during lockdown with a collective effort.
They will be trying to cover the distance between Maldon and Tokyo (5,719.9 miles) by the end of lockdown through a collective effort of running, walking and cycling and scooting, in the Torch to Tokyo Challenge.
Team GB are set to compete in the Men's and Women's hockey competition in Tokyo, where the Olympics are scheduled to be held in July.
All members of the club will be participating from their youngest juniors aged six to the older Walking Hockey members, some of whom are in their 70s and the six senior teams in between.
They hope to raise money for the refurbishment of the Farleigh Hospice Project in Mill Road, Maldon which had to be stopped in March last year and also funds for the club.
They are already underway and have a Virgin Money Fund Raising page - visit https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=TorchtoTokyoChallenge&pageUrl=1&isTeam=true
