COLCHESTER United will host non-league outfit Marine in the FA Cup first round proper.

The U’s will entertain the seventh-tier Mariners next month at the JobServe Community Stadium, following tonight’s draw.

Merseyside-based Marine, who currently lie 12th in Northern Premier League Division One North West, booked their place in the first-round proper after claiming an impressive 1-0 win over Chester, last weekend.

James Barrigan scored the Mariners’ winner from the penalty spot with nine minutes remaining, to book their place in the next round.

Marine’s trip to play Colchester will be the first time they have appeared at this stage of the competition for the first time in 25 years.

Colchester will be hoping for a decent run in this season's competition.

Steve Ball will preside over his first FA Cup tie as the club's head coach when they face Marine, next month.

Meanwhile, MALDON AND TIPTREE were also drawn at home in the first round proper.

Wayne Brown’s side will host League Two outfit Morecambe at Park Drive, next month after reaching the first round proper of the competition for the second successive year.

The Jammers beat Haringey Borough 1-0 to advance at the weekend and Wayne Brown's side will be hoping for a plum tie, having seen off Leyton Orient at the first-round proper stage, last season.

The FA Cup first round will take place on the weekend of November 7 and 8.

The prize on offer for first-round winners this season is £22,629.
