COLCHESTER United are set to rack up nearly 9,000 miles in League Two next season.

With the make up of League Two for the 2020-21 campaign confirmed following Harrogate Town's 3-1 win over Notts County in the National League play-off final, the U's now know who they will be playing.

Steve Ball's side face plenty of hours on the road, with the U's set to travel a total of 8,940 miles to and from away games.

That is an increase of 1,364 miles on the total of 7,576 miles Colchester had been due to travel for their away games in the curtailed 2019/20 season.

That itself was up 96 miles from the distance covered by the U's in the 2018/19 season.

Colchester face two away fixtures with a 600-mile or more round trip, against League Two new boys Barrow and Carlisle United.

They also have six round trips of 500 miles or more and 13 of 400 miles or more, next season.

Colchester's longest away journey is to newly-promoted Barrow, where they will travel nearly 650 miles in total.

The U's shortest journey will see the U's heading to Roots Hall to play Essex neighbours Southend United, a round trip of 84 miles.

The fixture list for the 2020-21 League Two season is expected to be released later this month, ahead of the big kick-off on September 12.

The full list of confirmed clubs in League Two next season is: Barrow, Bolton Wanderers, Bradford City, Cambridge United, Carlisle United, Cheltenham Town, Colchester United, Crawley Town, Exeter City, Forest Green Rovers, Grimsby Town, Harrogate Town, Leyton Orient, Macclesfield Town, Mansfield Town, Morecambe, Newport County, Oldham Athletic, Port Vale, Salford City, Scunthorpe United, Southend United, Tranmere Rovers, Walsall.
