NEW loan signing Tafari Moore will be a ‘good addition’ for Colchester United.

That is the view of U’s head coach John McGreal, who was pleased with the right-back’s display on his debut.

Moore has signed for Colchester on loan for the rest of the season from their League Two rivals Plymouth Argyle and played for more than 60 minutes of their 2-1 win over Macclesfield Town, last weekend.

It was the 22-year-old’s first league appearance since November, 2018 and boss McGreal was happy with the way the former Arsenal youngster performed.

McGreal said: “I thought Tafari came in and did particularly well.

“We haven’t got the cover on that right side with Brendan (Wiredu) going back and we needed it, in that area.

“Jacko (Ryan Jackson) has been the mainstay on his own really and Tarfari brings that added competition that we all need, because we seem to have it all over the pitch.

“It can play on both sides as well, so I think it’ll be a good addition for us.

“He played for the under-23s last week; he’s missed a bit of football and hasn’t been in and around the first team but getting 60 minutes will stand him in good stead, as will training now every day with the first team.

“He’s got a bit of quality as well, which we’ve all seen.”

Colchester play host to promotion rivals Bradford City tomorrow aiming to extend their unbeaten run in League Two to 14 matches.

It is the U’s longest sequence without losing a league game since they went 18 matches without a defeat under Steve Wignall in the 1996-97 division three campaign.

McGreal added: “It’s six wins and seven draws - in midweek, I was told it was our best unbeaten run in something like 30 years.

“It’s the second longest unbeaten run only to Liverpool – any other stats you want me to say!

“Teams aren’t going to roll over – we’ve seen that in the recent games against the likes of Stevenage and Morecambe.

“They’re not going to give you points and they’re fighting for their lives.”
