KANE Vincent-Young has this morning completed his transfer from Colchester United to Ipswich Town.

The talented 23-year-old has joined Town on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee, with reports suggesting the U's could receive £500,000 for the talented defender.

In a statement issued via the U's, he said: “It’s been an absolute pleasure representing this club for the past five years and I leave here with nothing but fond memories.

“I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity I was given here to find my feet and start my career and even more grateful for the lifelong friendships I’ve made along the way.

“I’ve been privileged enough to share the pitch with some fantastic teammates during my time here as well as sharing the building with some lovely members of staff.

“Lastly, a big thank you to the fans for all the amazing support over the years and for some of the lovely messages I’ve received over the past few days, it’s been truly humbling.

“I wish everyone at the club nothing but the best and hope to see you all soon.”

Vincent-Young made 126 appearances for Colchester, scoring four goals and was named their Young Player of the Year in 2017/18.

U's Director of Football Tony Humes told the club's website: "We saw Kane's potential very quickly when he arrived from Tottenham Hotspur.

"He originally got his opportunity in League One and, since then, has improved every aspect of his game and physically he is now a fantastic athlete.

"It's clear to see why teams have been interested and why his performances have caught the eye of so many clubs.

"We are, of course, disappointed to lose him but we also understand that's what we're about in wanting our Academy players to progress to a higher level.

"We firmly believe that Kane has the potential to go very high in the game with the attributes he possesses, and we wish him well for the future."
