TOM Eastman has signed a new contract with Colchester United.

The U's current longest-serving player, who was due to see his previous deal expire this summer, has penned a new two-year deal which will see him remain at the JobServe Community Stadium until at least the summer of 2021.

Defender Eastman has made more than 300 appearances for Colchester since joining them from neighbours Ipswich Town in 2011.

The 27-year-old, who is a three-time Player of the Year winner with the U's, is currently 19th on the club's all-time appearance-maker list.

Eastman follows in the footsteps of Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe in committing his immediate future to Colchester.

The striker, who is on loan at Derry City until November, saw his stay at the U's extended to the summer of 2020, earlier this week.

Dillon Barnes, Sam Saunders, Diaz Wright and Rene Gilmartin are also due to see their existing contracts at Colchester expire, this summer.

Last season's top scorer Sammie Szmodics, who has been strongly linked with a move to Championship side Bristol City, is also due to see his current deal run out.
