MANAGER Tom Rothery has nailed his colours to the Brightlingsea Regent mast.

The popular boss has agreed to remain in charge of the Bostik League premier division outfit for the 2019/20 campaign.

There had been doubt about his future following well-publicised concerns about the club's playing budget next season.

He reluctantly admitted he would be forced to step down if finances were cut.

However, with things now now looking far rosier on that front, Rothery has committed to another season in charge of the ambitious Taydal Stadium side.

He enjoyed a fantastic first full season in the hot-seat, guiding the club to their highest-ever league finish, in addition to their furthest runs in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy.

Assistant Pip Boyland has also agreed to continue in his role for the up and coming season, as have goalkeeper coach John Albon and kit man Alan Wright.

“We're absolutely delighted that Tom and Pip have committed to the club for the coming season,” said Regent secretary Tony Osborne.

“Tom has done a fantastic job since arriving in October 2017, from Needham Market, along with Pip.

"Long may this continue.

“Tom and Pip both show a huge desire to achieve great things at this football club and work hard behind the scenes in all aspects of their roles.

“We want to build on last season and, with Tom and Pip remaining at the helm, I believe we can continue to build something special at this club.”

Meanwhile, Regent have confirmed the departure of two more players from last season's squad.

Harry Morgan is leaving after moving recently and will seek football nearer home, after spending a season with the R’s.

Morisi Gelashvilli is also departing after joining last October.

The popular Georgian is seeking football nearer his home in East London.

Regent had previously confirmed that Aaron Condon was leaving, after three successful seasons with the R’s as he moves to Sussex.

The former FC Clacton man will be remembered for some high-quality goals, having scored 63 times in 135 appearances.
