COLCHESTER Harriers race walking ace Dominic King is hoping to do an Italian job this weekend when he heads to the Italian National Championships in Reggio Emilia.

King is due to be competing in the 50 kilometre event as he continues building towards a potential place at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

He will head to Italy with confidence after seeing success at the World Masters Championships in Spain last month when he claimed gold in the 20km event and silver over 10km in Malaga.

The Italian race is taking place on Sunday and the Harriers walker is looking for another strong performance over the longer distance.

“I’m doing the 50k in Italy with the hope of putting a decent time in," he said.

“I’m not sure if it’ll be a PB (personal best) but I’ll be looking to get close to a time of four hours."

His only other 50km competitive walk this year was in Slovakia in March and saw King finish in four hours six minutes.
