BURNHAM Ramblers fans can expect an exciting week as the Essex Senior League promotion race builds to a thrilling climax.

The candidates vying for league honours will see their fates decided over the next eight days and Ramblers boss Garry Kimble is insisting that his team will be on the front foot in their bid to ensure they reach their goal.

Ramblers have three games remaining, starting with tonight's trip to Takeley, and Kimble says his team will be in an attacking frame of mind.

“We have got to go out there and attack,” he said.

“We can’t sit back. We will be chasing for three points as one isn’t good enough.

“We need nine points from our three games and if results go our way elsewhere, then we can still get to where we want to be.

“It will certainly be an exciting time over the week.”

The up and down nature of the league was highlighted by Burnham’s 3-2 defeat by promotion rivals Enfield 1893 last Wednesday, however, they followed that disappointing result with a 4-0 defeat of Sawbridgeworth on Saturday to make sure they remained in the running for honours.

Following tonight’s game, Burnham continue with a home encounter against Southend Manor on Saturday and then conclude their league fixtures with an away match at Mauritius Sports Association on Tuesday ahead of their League Cup final against Bethnal Green United. The Burnham manager said he has no injury or suspension concerns ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Takeley.

While leaders Stansted remain favourites to take the title, they won’t be promoted because their ground doesn’t meet the necessary criteria and that leaves the way open for the side finishing second.

Kimble said he considers Witham Town as his team’s main rivals to claim that spot, but is confident that three wins will take Ramblers up. “It will go down to the wire, that’s for sure,” added the Burnham boss.

“I think the top spot is probably gone, but I’m really optimistic that we can take second.

“That is definitely up for grabs.

“We have three games left and we will give it our best shot.

“It is an exciting way to end the season as anyone can beat anyone else on the day so there will be plenty of twists and turns to come.”
