HEYBRIDGE Swifts have boosted their promotion chances by signing four new players.

Brian O’Rawle and Harrison Chatting have arrived on loan from Billericay Town, with the latter netting on his debut in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at VCD Athletic.

Manager Wayne Bond has also snapped up striker Tom English, from Ridgeons League side Halstead Town.

And former Colchester United youth-teamer Perry Sansford has also joined on a permanent basis, after impressing during a recent trial at Scraley Road.

“I felt I needed to freshen things up,” said Bond.

“Brian and Harrison did well (at the weekend) and their enthusiasm rubbed off on a lot of the boys.

“Their attitude is spot on and having lads like that in the squad keeps everyone on their toes.”

As for his other new duo, he added: “Perry was impressive during his trial and it’s good to have him here on a permanent basis now.

“As for Tom, he will be a very useful addition and give us different options up front.

“He was available and wants to play at a higher level, so in many ways we’re helping each other out.”

Chatting made an instant impact by scoring from a free-kick during Saturday’s encounter against VCD.

Leon Antoine then added the second in injury-time at the end of the first half.

Bond said: “It was a very good and a comfortable victory.

“VCD didn’t have a shot on target and we should have scored one or two more.

“We played better in this match than we did when we won five games in a row recently.”

Swifts continued their good form with a 4-2 victory against Ilford on Tuesday.

On Saturday, they are then at home to Wingate and Finchley (kick-off 3pm).

“We mustn’t get carried away,” said Bond, of his side’s position just outside the play-offs.

“The table looks good and we’re quietly pleased, but anyone can beat anyone in this league.”
