CRC 1 Tiptree United 0 With Keith Emmerson and Ben Cross on the injury list and Lee Townrow serving the final game of his three match suspension, manager Colin Wallington had no option but to field his only 11 remaining players.

Tiptree had their best spell of the match ten minutes into the second half, with Jamie Arlick, Gary Burrell and Nathan Clarke all going close.

CRC took the lead on 73 minutes when a diving close range header from Luke Berry gave Gould no chance.

This Saturday will see Tiptree turn their attention back to the FA Vase and boss Wallington will hope to have the services of Emmerson and Cross, but one player who will definitely be available again is Lee Townrow who will now have served his three match suspension, as Tiptree look to beat 2008 finalists and league rivals Lowestoft Town.

Wallington will be eager for success as he came so close to getting to the final when manager of Maldon when he took them to the semi finals in 2003, only to be defeated by losing finalists AFC Sudbury — and during that run in the Vase who were one of Wallington’s victims? Lowestoft Town.

Let’s see if Tiptree United can repeat the success on their course for the final with Wembley waiting in May 2009.
