BOWLERS battled it out in the annual Carnival Triples Bowling Competition.

The competition was held at Tillingham Bowls Club on Saturday, September 26, with teams from Tillingham, Southminster and Burnham Bowls Clubs taking part.

A total of 14 teams of triples competed across two leagues consisting of eight and six teams.

Each team played four games of six ends, with a break halfway through for a ploughman’s lunch and sweets prepared by club volunteers.

After a full day’s competition, the league winners faced off in a play-off for the title.

Eddie Barker, Kevin Burridge of Southminster BC and Nigel Norfolk of Burnham Hillside BC won the final by one shot.

They beat runners-up Hazel Bradley, Christine Reynolds and Lynne Parlour of Burnham Hillside BC.

Pam Lacey, the DHBA 2026 president from Southminster BC, presented the winners with their shield.

The following day, Sunday, September 27, Burnham Hillside BC hosted a fun day to mark the end of the 2026 season.

Bowlers were encouraged to dress casually and 48 players took part.

Players took part in three six-end games, with their positions randomly assigned for each session.

After the matches, fellow bowlers laid on a buffet for the participants.

Club chairman Kevin Olley thanked everyone for taking part and praised the bar volunteers for their vital work.

Dennis Bonning and Patsy Hammond were named the highest-scoring man and woman and received cash prizes donated by Sid Curtis and Kevin Olley.
