MALDON Croquet Club has celebrated a successful season.

The 75-member club competed in several tournaments and made its annual weekend trip to play Ramsgate Croquet Club.

A spokesperson said: "We are now one of the pre-eminent clubs in East Anglia with the added bonus of having some of the finest lawns in the country thanks in particular to our dedicated member Geoff Macro."

The season ended with finals day, where Mick Fryer won the Rainbow Trophy, Pete Howe claimed the Georgie Clarke Vase, and Janette Lett and Graham Parker won the Forrester Plate.

The trophies will be presented at the club’s annual dinner in October.

Members will meet for monthly lunches while planning the club’s expansion to accommodate a third lawn.

After welcoming more than 100 visitors this season, the club will welcome new members when its lawns reopen in April 2027.
