THE Jammers Fans Association has launched a crowdfunding appeal aimed at giving Maldon & Tiptree supporters a way to financially back the club’s future without contributing directly to its current ownership.
Money raised could be used to support a potential takeover of the Jammers or, if a deal cannot be reached and the Pitching In Isthmian League division north club ceases to exist, form a starter fund for a phoenix club.
The appeal comes amid a deeply uncertain period for Maldon & Tiptree, with the JFA saying supporters have been left facing an “impossible choice” between attending matches to support the management team and players, or staying away from home games amid concerns over where their money goes.

In a statement, the supporters’ group said: “Over the past few months, the fans of Maldon & Tiptree Football Club have had to deal with events that no football fan should have to confront.
“In fact, no human being should ever have to deal with these events.
“First and foremost, the thoughts of the JFA remain with everyone who has been affected by the ongoing criminal investigation involving Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow.”
Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow, who were involved in the club’s takeover in February 2025, deny the allegations they face.

The JFA said the fanbase had welcomed the new ownership after becoming frustrated with what it described as an “apathetic and seemingly uninterested” previous owner.
It added: “We placed our trust in the DBO and welcomed them into our club. That trust has been betrayed in the most appalling way.”
The JFA said it recognised the personal nature of the decision facing fans, adding there was “no right or wrong choice” over whether to continue attending matches.

The JFA’s fund has two stated purposes: to help a prospective new owner complete a takeover, should one become possible, or to provide a financial base for a new supporter-led club if Maldon & Tiptree cannot be saved.
The association has previously called for clarity from registered owner Aspen Drewitt-Barlow over a sale process and said a fan-led consortium had not been ruled out. It also claimed potential buyers had experienced a lack of information and engagement from the club.
In its crowdfunding appeal, the JFA urged supporters to unite behind the club and the community built around it.

It said: “Our great football club has given us some incredible memories over the years. It has helped us build a community that is there for each other both in the stands and in our personal lives.
“Our community – along with our football club – faces a grave threat to its very existence.
“Now is our time to come together and fight. Not only for the club we love, but also for each other.”
