MALDON & Tiptree supporters have renewed their call for the club to be put up for sale, claiming potential buyers have struggled to engage with the owners.
The Jammers Fans Association (JFA) committee says it has written again to the Jammers’ registered owner Aspen Drewitt-Barlow, having not received a formal response to its initial letter sent in June.
Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and his husband Scott Drewitt-Barlow, who bought the club in 2025, are accused of targeting and grooming young males across the country between 2013 and 2026 and are currently remanded in custody, with a provisional trial date confirmed for January 18.

In that first communication, the supporters’ group asked for Maldon & Tiptree to be sold “at the earliest opportunity” and sought a seven-day response setting out a proposed sale process and how fans would be kept informed.
While the JFA said it initially received positive informal communication from people employed by the club, it said no formal reply had been received from Mr Drewitt-Barlow or his representatives.
The JFA said it understands the club’s owners are open to a sale but claimed interested parties had encountered “a lack of engagement and information” from Maldon & Tiptree.

In its latest statement, the JFA has requested public confirmation that Maldon & Tiptree is available for acquisition, with the club’s valuation made privately available to the supporters’ group.
They have also asked for exit plan details, along with clarity on how prospective buyers should approach the club and how the owners intend to manage interest.
The group said it recognised the situation was “unprecedented” and remained willing to help facilitate a sale.
It added that a fan-led consortium had not been ruled out, while encouraging any interested parties to contact the JFA at contact@thejammersfa.co.uk.

The letter follows Maldon & Tiptree’s 1-0 win over Aveley, in their opening Pitching In Premier home game of the season.
The JFA congratulated new boss Mark Hawkes and his team on the victory but said it had raised several observations with the owners concerning the matchday experience.
It has asked for details of how improvements will be made and requested a written response before Saturday’s home fixture against Dartford.
The supporters’ group said it would welcome a meeting with the owners and hoped its latest letter would be received in the best interests of Maldon & Tiptree FC.
The JFA said it would issue a further update once it receives a response or sends further communications.
