FORMER Colchester United striker Freddie Sears has signed for Maldon and Tiptree.

Sears, who made nearly 200 appearances in total for the U’s during his two spells at the JobServe Community Stadium, has become the latest player to link up with the Pitching In Isthmian League division north outfit.

The 35-year-old has linked up with the ambitious Jammers after leaving Pitching In Isthmian League Premier side Chatham Town, at the end of the season.

Sears joins a number of fellow ex-Colchester players at Maldon and Tiptree, who are managed by former U’s under-21 boss, Kevin Horlock.

Tom Eastman, Cameron James and Louis Dunne have also joined Maldon and Tiptree this summer, in readiness for the 2025-26 campaign.

In February, Sears returned to his former club West Ham United in an academy coaching role, having completed his UEFA B licence at the club.
