Maldon Bowls Club has triumphantly clinched the Division 1 championship crown in the Central Midweek League for the first time, with a game to spare.
Competing in Chelmsford and needing a mere two points to scoop up the title, Maldon dominated on both rinks and bagged all eight points available.
Colin Wall's rink held no mercy, leading 27-1 after the first 13 ends.
Simultaneously, Tony Wallis' rink asserted a comfortable lead of 14-7.
The game ultimately culminated with Maldon claiming victory by 47 to 19 shots.
Sustaining impressive performance in Division 3, Maldon didn't ease off the gas as they maintained pressure at the summit.
They netted a 7-1 points win at home against PML, winning on one rink and holding a draw on the other.
This victory positioned Maldon in second place tie with just one game left in hand, trailing the leaders Braintree by a slight 2 points margin.
Their counterparts in the Chelmsford and District league; the Maldon A team also poised to claim the Division 1 title.
They've strategically placed themselves in the front-runner's position having defeated Southminster at home and winning on all 3 rinks.
Though the rinks fronted by Kevin Cornwell and Andy Squire secured comfortable wins, it was the decisive rink skippered by Tony Wallis which snatched a narrow one-shot victory.
Wallis executed a flawless last bowl, trailing the jack for a count of three and earning the extra two points.
With only one game remaining, Maldon is ahead by five points against the second in line, Writtle, but faces a daunting challenge away at Chelmsford.
In Division 2, Maldon B played host to the prospective champions Stock A, putting up a valiant fight.
Maldon emerged winners on two out of the three rinks.
However, Stock clinched a narrow 6-4 points win together with a 63-57 shot win.
Nonetheless, for Maldon B, who enjoyed successful promotion, it was a gratifying season, set to finish fairly in the middle of the pack.
Maldon players also featured in some C & D semi-finals.
Andy Squire took on P Gladwell of Falcon at PML's green and outplayed him effortlessly, seizing a 20-0 lead prior to his victorious 21-2 win.
Squire is set to oppose M Goddard of Chelmsford in a highly anticipated final aiming for an astonishing 25th win in this competition since 1991.
Maldon continued to pull in stellar results over the week playing against Wivenhoe in the County Double Fours, winning on both rinks.
The away rink composed of Dave Torrice, Mark Piper, Brian Stubbings, and Andy Squire recorded an excellent 30-10 win, prompting the Wivenhoe team to concede before the completion of their allocation of ends.
Maldon now gears up to face Silver End in the Quarter Finals.
On Sunday during their Presidents Day, President for 2024, Colin Wall played host to players and guests for a game of mixed triples over six rinks.
Wall's team triumphed over Captain Geoff Cox's team 112-96, providing the perfect end to a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
