POPULAR Maldon and Tiptree keeper Ben McNamara has been selected in the Team of the Round in the Emirates FA Cup First Round, writes JON LONGMAN.

After a magnificent performance against Morecambe on November 8 that was seen live by BBC Match of the Day viewers, McNamara has been voted as the goalkeeper in the team of the Emirates FA Cup First Round.

Up against two other goalkeepers, McNamara received 46 per cent of 1,284 votes for a performance that kept the Jammers in the contest right up to the final whistle.

The club sent McNamara a lock down message saying: “A fantastic achievement by our favourite Australian and everyone at the club is delighted that Ben, who has been so impressive for the club over the last three years, has been rewarded for another impressive goalkeeping display. Well done, Ben.”

It is a deserved award for Ben as he was one of only three players who stuck with Jammers after they missed out on promotion because the season was declared null and void.

The Jammers will restart their FA Trophy campaign next Wednesday if the midweek meeting of Isthmian League chairmen or proxies on the Zoom platform confirms a return to action.

Enfield Town (7.45pm) will be the Jammers destination next Wednesday and they resume their Isthmian North fixtures on Saturday week when Hullbridge Sports will be the visitors to Park Drive.

Following the November wipe out, nine Jammers games have been re-arranged and the club will take advantage of the Isthmian League’s decision to extend the 2020-21 season.

The Jammers will now finish their league campaign on Saturday May 22 at home to Aveley rather than playing their last league fixture on the original date of May 8.

The Isthmian North play-off final is now scheduled for the following bank weekend, with the semi-finals in midweek.

The Jammers will finish the competitive season at home to Aveley on Saturday, May 22.

The dates for the Jammers re-arranged fixtures are: Tuesday January 5 Basildon United (a), Tuesday January 12 Bury Town (h), Wednesday January 20 Romford (a), Tuesday January 26 Histon (a), Tuesday February 9 AFC Sudbury (h), Tuesday February 16 Coggeshall Town (h), Saturday May 8 Grays Athletic (a), Saturday May 15 Cambridge City (a), Saturday May 22 Aveley (h).
