HEYBRIDGE Swifts will continue their preparations for the new Isthmian League division north season this weekend with a game against Concord Rangers.

Stuart Nethercott's side will take on their National League South opponents in the latest match in their ten-game pre-season schedule.

Swifts got their pre-season preparations underway with a 2-1 win over Coggeshall United last weekend, in their first friendly of the summer.

A Heybridge side made up of virtually all trialists ran out narrow winners at Scraley Road, which was empty in line with the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.

Swifts ran the rule over 20 outfield trialists and Academy players against the Weavers, ahead of the new season.

Heybridge have plenty more friendly matches coming up.

They are in action next Tuesday night when they travel to play FC Clacton (7.45pm kick-off), and will host Newmarket Town on August 15.

Nethercott's side host Bishop's Stortford on August 18 and follow that up with a home clash with National League South outfit Braintree Town, on August 22.

Swifts also take on Halstead Town (August 25), Saffron Walden Town (August 29), Wivenhoe Town (September 1) and Ware (September 5), during their pre-season campaign.

Heybridge are due to play their first competitive match of the 2020-21 season when they play in the FA Cup on September 12.

They are then due to play their Isthmian North opener on Saturday, September 19.

Meanwhile midfielder George Craddock has been named as Swifts' new first-team captain for the forthcoming campaign.

The 25-year-old, who has previously played for Bishop’s Stortford and Potters Bar Town, was a key player for Karl Duguid's side in their promotion push last season.

Craddock succeeds defender Jey Siva, who has joined Canvey Island, and Nick Brown, who was sidelined for a season with a leg injury.

Left-back Siva was a key figure for Swifts in their 2018-19 play-off winning campaign in division one north, under Julian Dicks.
