ISAAC Hutchinson feels Southend United have turned a corner in their struggling season.

The Shrimpers - who host Oxford United at Roots Hall tomorrow - saw off AFC Wimbledon 3-1 in the Leasing.com Trophy last time out.

And Hutchinson is now confident the second from bottom Blues will start to string together a run of more positive results.

“I really do feel we’ve turned a corner now,” said the young midfielder.

“As a group of players we shouldn’t be where we are in the table but we’ve underachieved to be honest.

“I have noticed a difference now though and I would think everyone else in the group has as well so I think we can get a run of results going to get up the table.”

The Shrimpers are currently eight points from safety with an inferior goal difference to those around them.

But Hutchinson is not looking too far ahead.

“All we can think of at the moment is playing Oxford,” said the 19-year-old.

“They’re a good team but I think we are too.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this League too so we’re looking forward to getting back out there again tomorrow.”
