FORMER Maldon and Tiptree boss Terry Spillane has been appointed as the new manager of Stanway Rovers.

He takes the reins from Lee Fisher, who recently parted company with the Essex Senior League outfit.

Spillane, who will work alongside Rovers director of football Angelo Harrop and was previously in charge of both Aveley and Thamesmead Town, had cause for celebration on Saturday after watching his new side win 2-1 at Leyton Athletic.

All the goals came in the second half.

Spillane’s first home match in charge comes on Tuesday night, when Woodford Town visit The Hawthorns.
