A LAST-GASP goal from Lewis Smith ensured Tilbury earned a share of the spoils against Felixstowe & Walton United on Saturday.

The Dockers had trailed twice in the match - including heading into injury-time - but Smith struck twice to help Joe Keith’s side avoid another defeat in the Isthmian North.

Smith and Jack Carlile missed early chances to put Tilbury in front and Felixstowe made the hosts pay, Jack Ainsley slotting home just before the half hour mark.

Tilbury hit the post in response but the leveller was an hour in coming.

Husain Jaffa was fouled in the penalty area and Smith made no mistake from 12 yards.

And, despite their endeavours, it appeared as though Tilbury were going to end the game pointless.

Visiting attacker Joe Francis scored a second for Felixstowe in the 90th minute, tucking home following a failed attempted clearance.

Yet there was still time for further drama at Chadfields.

In the fifth minute of injury-time the tricky Smith sent an effort through a crowded penalty area and, with the aid of a deflection, the ball found the net to wild celebrations from the home faithful.

The result keeps Tilbury third from bottom with seven points from their eight matches so far this season.
