LOOKING AHEAD: After a tricky run in the league, Sammy Moore will be pleased to have an FA Cup tie to focus on.

Having made a barnstorming start to the season and occupying second spot in the league, Concord have failed to win any of their last five matches and dropped to 13th.

They now welcome Margate, of the Isthmian Premier League, looking to re-establish their credentials as league play-off contenders.

Yet Margate will be a tough nut to crack. The Kent side are sitting just outside the play-off places in the league and have reached the fourth qualifying round of this competition in each of the last three seasons. It is four years since Concord reached the first round, as they also fell at the final qualifying hurdle last term.

COACH’S VIEW: “The break from the league is nice and our biggest issue is consistency,” said first team coach Darren Beale. “The FA Cup is a welcome distraction and we know the opposition well having played them at Leatherhead last season.

“They have players we have worked with in the past - Joe Taylor, Frannie Collin and Henry Newcombe among others - but they have some talented players.

“I think Margate will be up there in their league at the end of the season.

“But we have home advantage and it’s a long trip for them too. We are looking forward to it.

“Sammy is geared up for it. We did well in the cup last season and we want the same this year.”
