DAVE Cawtheray and Tim Newman won the second round of Five Lakes Golf Club's Men's Winter League.
On a fresh autumnal morning, using the Lakes course, some good better ball scores were returned.
Two pairs came in with 41 points - Dave and John Rogers along with John Mayle and Richard Hardy King.
The chasing pack included three pairs with 42 points, to be separated on countback to decide the minor places.
Jeremy Barter (12) and Dave Watson (14) just lost out in fourth place, while in third were Luke Conway (15) and Graham Marfleet (18).
The second slot went to Steve Harris (15) and Luke Ratty (8), with the better back nine holes.
However, the winners of the second round were Cawtheray (17) and Newman (13) with 45 points.
Birdie balls were in abundance - Nigel Popper and Dave Watson on the fourth, Luke Ratty on the eighth, Alan Garnett on the 11th and John Mayle and Dave Rogers on the 16th.
