TILLINGHAM's under-11 cricketers kicked off their season on a cold evening at Vicarage Lane.
The strong Chelmsford Willows side were their visitors and they proved too much for the relatively inexperienced Tillingham team.
Willows were comfortable winners, but the hosts learned a few lessons that they took into their next match at Great Waltham on Sunday.
On this occasion, the team showed all their potential with a comfortable 56-run win, with contributions throughout the side.
Tillingham travel to Broomfield a week tomorrow for their next game.
