A HUGE cannabis factory was found in a police raid.

Police officers carried out the raid in Heath Road, Ramsden Heath on Friday following reports of a large disturbance.

A police spokesman said: “On arrival police secured the area and quickly identified a cannabis factory of more than 60 plants as well as associated equipment.

“A man and a woman were arrested at the scene.

“Officers made the scene safe, securing evidence, dismantling the equipment and interviewing the suspects. The investigation is ongoing.

“Cannabis factories are often maintained by victims of modern day slavery. In addition they pose a significant risk to the community as they often bypass electrical safety systems, use powerful fertilisers and pose a fire risk.”

The 26-year-old man and 21-year-old woman were released on bail until May 14.
