A HEARTBROKEN family has paid tribute to a "devoted" couple found dead in their Leigh home.

The family of Eric Angell said he had been suffering from his physical and mental health in the lead up to his and his wife Pauline's death this month.

Mr and Mrs Angell, aged 71 and 67, were found dead in their home in Tankerville Drive on Saturday April 10.

In a statement, Eric and Pauline’s family said: “Pauline and Eric were a devoted couple, with a long and happy marriage.

“They were supported and much-loved by their family and friends. However, Eric had been suffering with his physical health, and more recently with his mental health, culminating in their tragic loss.

“Both families would request privacy to mourn at this extremely difficult time.”

Neighbours said they were left in "complete shock" following the deaths.

Police were called by the ambulance service over concerns for the welfare of the couple, but tragically they were found dead.

The police launched an investigation into their death and a file has been prepared for the coroner.

The force are not looking for anyone else in connection to their deaths.
